Our mission
Coaching is an increasingly popular tool for many organisations, with companies spending anywhere from $1.2 - $35k (USD) per leader per year on average. However, coaching is not just for executives anymore. It has now expanded to include more junior levels, as organisations move away from traditional classroom training and conferences due to the comparable costs and limited lasting behaviour change achieved by these programs. Similarly, when it comes to consulting programs, organisations are no longer interested in having a contractor come in and do the work for (or to) them. Instead they are keen to have an experienced professional coach them throughout the program to support skills transfer and the development of their internal team.
With so many coaches and consultants working in the market, identifying reliable, reputable and appropriately priced services can be a challenging task. As such, it is our mission to truly partner with our clients to identify the 'right' team to meet your needs and create meaningful people and culture strategies, sustainable development programs and implement lasting change.
We are committed to addressing the current challenges in the market in relation to the quality, reliability, and cost of coaching and consulting programs. We are also committed to developing our TCP team, as we know that high quality service for our clients begins with providing high quality support for our coaches and consultants.

The problem with coaching
While there are a number of exceptional coaches and consultants out there, quality, consistency and pricing varies significantly due to limitations in:

The duration and content of training
Professional courses can range from very short 1–2 day sessions to more extensive programs over months or even years making it difficult for clients to identify an appropriately qualified professional. Completing qualifications also rarely takes into account professional experience and expertise developed 'on the job'.
Our team members go through a rigorous selection process, including a detailed online application form and skills audit, a behavioural interview and reference checks. We don't charge our coaches and consultants any fees to be part of TCP, so you know if they are part of our team it is because we have identified them as exceptional in their field.

Operational and commercial expertise
In Australia, ~70% of coaches have a ‘people & culture background’, i.e. social work, HR, psychology, L&D, etc.
While operational experience is not essential to be a 'great coach', we know that many leaders want to work with someone who understands what they do each day. As such, approx. 65% of TCP’s coaches have operational expertise in areas including, but not limited to, IT, finance, risk, retail, sales and marketing.

Experience at director level or above
Only 36% of coaches have personal experience at Director level or above and it is not known in what type of organisations this experience was obtained.
Again, this is not a requirement for great coaching, but many executives are keen to work with someone who understands the pressures of their position. As such, approx. 60% of TCP’s coaches have experience at Director level or above in complex organisations including the Big 4 Consulting Firms and Government Departments.

Formal supervision and oversight
Less than half (~44%) of coaches participate in ongoing supervision and <40% of leaders share coaching outcomes with others. As such, there is little quality assurance and oversight of most coaching programs, and it unknown whether coaches are coaching to the individuals’ or organisations’ objectives.
TCP facilitates a thorough coach induction and regular development sessions. We also obtain feedback from our coachees and clients to ensure the ongoing quality and consistency of our coaches and coaching programs. Our coaches and consultants also have access to leading practice tools, templates and materials that have been carefully selected to ensure quality outcomes.

Measurement and outcomes tracking
Just over half (54%) of coaches report tracking outcomes using formal measures such as 360-degree surveys or improvements in KPIs/ business results. The most commonly used success measures are coachee satisfaction and whether or not the coachee believes their behaviour has changed.
We partner with our clients to understand the desired coaching outcomes and agree the metrics that will be utilised to monitor progress. We obtain regular coach and coachee feedback, and also conduct 360-degree survey, or track individual and organisational KPIs to gauge return on investment.

Procurement approaches
~70% of coaching services are procured directly by line management. However, the process for selecting coaches is unknown and there is no opportunity to achieve economies of scale in pricing.
We offer complimentary matching meetings with up to three (3) team members to ensure that we find the 'right' professional for each program. Our transparent approach supports People and Culture teams to take ownership over the coaching programs that exist within your organisation. This will support you to align coaching services to your strategic goals, control quality and manage spend. We will also work with you to induct our coaches and consultants into your organisation to ensure quality and consistency of service delivery and alignment to your vision, values and strategy.

Existing pricing models
Larger organisations often drive coach rates down by as much as 50%, while marking up the fees for clients as much as 300 – 400%, which can negatively impact the quality of the coaching pool and the level of service provided to clients.
TCP has a transparent pricing model, where our coaches set their own rates. TCP then charges a small fee for administration, research and innovation, tools and templates. So you can be sure that the majority of your fee goes directly to the coach delivering the service. We know when it comes to coaching and consulting that 'one size does not fit all'. As such, we work in consultation with our team members to design programs and pricing to match the number of participants, the level of the individual(s) or group(s) being coached and/ or the complexity of the assignment.

Selection based on geographical proximity
Most people select coaches based on who is geographically close to them. While the difference between face to face vs. telephone is substantial, the difference between face to face and videoconferencing is not.
Our team members are located across Australia, New Zealand and Canada, with each of them offering face to face and online coaching. We leverage our global network to ensure that our clients have access to the best team in the market, not just those that are in your immediate geographical vicinity.
